Personalised SEN support for schools, healthcare, and communities across Ireland
Ireland is facing a growing SEN challenge. One in ten children has a special educational need, and demand for safe, sensory-supportive spaces continues to rise.
We understand how SEN support works in Ireland, the role of the NCSE, SENCO responsibilities, HSE referral pathways, and the pressure that schools, families, and health providers are under right now.
Cubbie is designed to fit within those structures. Cubbie delivers personalised sensory regulation and wellbeing support for Irish schools, HSE services, and community settings such as libraries.
16.7% of post-primary pupils in Ireland have identified SEN
(more than double the rate of 20 years ago)
Over 25% of Irish primary pupils missed 20 or more school days in 2022/23,
attendance challenges directly linked to unmet sensory and SEN needs
Long HSE waiting lists mean many children wait months or years
for occupational therapy assessments

Cubbie: Designed around Irish SEN frameworks and aligned with NCSE guidance
Whether you're working within a SEN plan, responding to an NCSE recommendation, or supporting children on HSE waiting lists, Cubbie is built to complement the support structures already in place.
In March 2025, the NCSE published its Sensory Spaces in Schools guide, developed by Senior Occupational Therapists, confirming that sensory spaces are now a formal policy priority in Irish education. Cubbie's approach aligns directly with this framework, helping schools meet NCSE expectations with a proven SEN support solution.

Cubbie is already embedded in schools, healthcare services, libraries, and community organisations across Ireland. We’re working with amazing organisations across Ireland to help change the daily lives for neurodivergent people in Ireland.
From primary classrooms to special schools to higher education, Cubbie creates a regulated, sensory-supportive environment that makes learning possible.
We work alongside HSE teams, Children's Health Ireland, and both adult and children's services to bring sensory regulation into clinical and therapeutic environments. For teams facing long waiting lists, Cubbie helps patients who feel dysregulated, overwhelmed, or anxious to feel calm and safe, which leads to more successful appointments.
Libraries, family resource centres, and community hubs are also working to become more inclusive, and we support them with Cubbie. One library told us they have seen more visitors of all ages since adding Cubbie, and they now work more closely with local schools. Families of children with special needs visit the library more often because they feel welcome and supported.

Who we work with in Ireland
Cubbie works with any organisation that supports neurodivergent children and adults in Ireland.
Irish primary and post-primary schools
We support SENCOs, class teachers, and school leadership teams to create sensory spaces that are practical, evidence-informed, and compliant with NCSE guidance.

HSE and healthcare providers
We work with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and multidisciplinary teams within the HSE and Children's Health Ireland to design hygienic sensory spaces that support therapeutic goals.
For teams managing long waiting lists, a well-designed sensory environment in a clinic or community health setting can extend the reach of every appointment.
Community spaces and libraries
Libraries, family resource centres, leisure facilities, and community hubs across Ireland are increasingly expected to be inclusive spaces, but few have been given the guidance or resources to make that happen.
We help community organisations create welcoming, neurodivergent-friendly spaces that serve every visitor.

Success stories

Manorhamilton Library
The library has seen a very positive impact it has made on the service. Cubbie has made the library more inclusive and accessible to our users and wider communities.

Galway University Hospital
Cubbie has been a fantastic addition to the playroom, especially for children with developmental needs. Children are able to settle and feel calm before visits, reducing distress and anxiety.

Cubbie are a great company to work with, and their product is changing the lives of students. The Cubbie is loved by our students, there is no stigma attached to its use, and it allows our students to be more participative in class as they pre-empt and prevent sensory issues.”
— Deputy Principal, Black Rock College
Resources and insights

An independent impact analysis from the University of Galway
We partnered with the University of Galway to independently analyse how users engage with Cubbie, and how their emotional states shift before and after each session. The research uncovered four key findings, including that 75% of Cubbie users are regulated by their sixth session.

Understanding sensory
processing disorder: A silent struggle
Imagine living in a world where every sound feels like a roar, where the touch of clothing feels like sandpaper on your skin, or where bright lights seem like a constant, unbearable glare. This is the reality for individuals with SPD, a condition that remains largely misunderstood and under-recognised.

The lifelong impact of sensory
processing disorder: From childhood to adulthood
Explore the deeper impacts of SPD on individuals as they transition from childhood into adolescence and adulthood. Understanding the statistics and long-term effects can help in creating more effective support systems and raising awareness about this often-overlooked condition.
